Console Doctor – Facebook, Twitter & Youtube Nintendo 3DS Competition.

Here at Console Doctor we’ve just launched our new Facebook, Twitter & Youtube pages. To commemorate this, we’re giving away a new Nintendo 3DS to a lucky winner. All you have to do to be entered into the competition, is “like” either one (or all to be in with a better chance of winning) of our Facebook, Twitter or Youtube pages. It really is that easy!!

For those who have been living under a rock for the last few months, the 3DS is the new handheld console for Nintendo. It is the first console ever released that displays full 3D images, without the need for glasses!!

Here are just some of the amazing features:

  • 3D screen, enabling 3D view without the need for special glasses and the ability to adjust or turn off 3D effect with the 3D Depth Slider.
  • Stereo cameras that enable users to take 3D photos that can be viewed instantly on the 3D screen.
  • SpotPass, a feature that lets Nintendo 3DS detect wireless hotspots or wireless LAN access points and obtain information, game data, free software, videos and so on for players even when the system is in sleep mode.*
  • Convenient features that users can access without stopping game play such as the HOME menu, Internet Browser, Notifications, etc.
  • Plenty of built-in software such as the Nintendo 3DS Camera, Nintendo 3DS Sound, Mii Maker, StreetPass, Mii Plaza, AR Games, Activity Log, Face Raiders, etc.
  • System Transfer which enable users to transfer already purchased software from one Nintendo 3DS system to another. DSiWare purchased for the Nintendo DSi or the Nintendo DSi XL can also be transferred into a Nintendo 3DS system.
  • Compatibility functions where both new software designed for Nintendo 3DS and most software for the Nintendo DS family of systems can be played.
  • Parental Controls which enable parents to restrict game content by ratings as well as use of specific wireless connectivity, 3D functionality, etc.

Once we hit 500 “likes” on any one of our pages, we’ll pool all the names together and pick out a lucky winner.

You can use the links at the bottom of this post to enter.

Good luck & happy fault free gaming from Console Doctor.

Fire at the Old Scrap Yard!!

Despite what authorities are calling a “major incident” happening behind our building, its business as usual here at Console Doctor. The blaze which started around lunch time today, has made headline news already.  With over 40 firefighters trying to tackle the fire, surrounding buildings including ours had to be evacuated. According to BBC news website the smoke can be seen about 30miles away in Harlepool.

Everything is back to normal now though – don’t worry about your consoles, they’re fine.

You can read the news report from the BBC here.

Happy Gaming.

Console Doctor – generations of console repair experts

Console Doctor has been fixing consoles since before most of its current customers were even born.  That’s a fabulous accolade to how good they are, then and now.

Every decade provides new challenges and Console Doctor provides new solutions.

Atari’s, Commodore’s, Sega Megadrive’s!  There was a time when gamers thought Sonic the Hedgehog was as good as it gets.

Playstation, Nintendo, Xbox and Wii soon proved us all wrong, and now we eagerly look forward to the Wii 2 launching in 2012.

We know it’ll be exceptional, because we know what console companies can do.

And we know Console Doctor will be ready, because we know what they can do – they can change with the times, outlive consoles, progress beyond the technology and deliver results decade after decade.

Console Doctor are, quite simply, the best around.

And for our older customers, here’s a little blast from the past.

Fabulous!

Console Doctor – fixed price, fixed console.

No hidden charges. Not one. Ever.

We pride ourselves in the fact that we offer free console repair assessments, free postage and VAT is included in the price you see on the website.

This isn’t a sob story about us helping gamers as we crawl out of a recession… it’s not a ‘limited offer’… and it’s certainly not a ‘special’ to celebrate an extra Bank Holiday every year (although that is pretty good!)

If all our free services were simply a ‘special offer’, that would mean we don’t do them all the time… and we absolutely do.

Every day of every year – free console repair assessments, free postage and VAT is included in the price you see on the website.

The Nintendo 3DS

3D was predictably the next big thing to hit gamers.

It’s a brilliant step forwards!

As gamers ourselves, we can’t wait to get our hands on it… as console repairers, we can definitely wait!  We hope the 3DS doesn’t require our services for a long time but, when it does, we’ll be ready.

As with any new and adventurous step forwards, there are many more technically complex parts, so there are more parts to go wrong.

It took Console Doctor just under 2 years to fully understand all the variables connected to fixing the dreaded YLOD and now we’re the best on the market for that.  With the Nintendo 3DS, we’re already studying it so that when it goes wrong, which it will, we’ll be the only guys to come to.

We’ll learn, we’ll wait and we’ll be ready to help when you need us.

What’s the best games console on the market today?

If we asked 20 people, we’d get the top three consoles mentioned again and again.

So, we asked someone who owns the top three consoles to narrow things down!

Our gaming ‘subject’, let’s call him Joe Bloggs, owns the Playstation 3, the Wii and the X-Box 360.  His blog is from the unadulterated perspective of a gamer; not a tech-head, not a critic… just a guy who loves to play!

Joe bought the PS3 on the day it was released because the hype was too much to resist… and the idea of having a console that was also a spectacular Blu-Ray player was the PS3’s crowning glory.  Joe’s opinion is that the versatility of the PS3, together with spectacular games like ‘Call of Duty – Black Ops’, will keep the Playstation in the hearts and minds of avid gamers for many, many years to come.

Joe bought a Wii for the same reason as most people – it looked like fantastic fun, whatever your age. And it was! The Wii is childhood revisited, it’s silliness at its best, it’s gaming competition at its most interactive. Joe does consider the Wii to be a bit of a ‘ladies’ console… it is ‘maning’ up of late but has a little way to go before it’s an X-Box 360 with Kinect!

Joe bought the X-box 360 on a whim.  It was new, it was cheap (cos he won it on a penny auction site for £6)… and the Kinect was coming!  The surprise was that it actually lives up to the hype!  The 360 is, for want of a better word, ‘beautiful’.  It looked at the PS3 and said, “I can play games like that.” It looked at the Wii and said, “I can have you jumping about like that too.”  And it does.  So, why then, when we asked…

If you were burgled, which console would you miss the least?

… did Joe say the X-Box 360 Kinect?

Because his girlfriend has a faultless loyalty to the Wii and he can’t live without his Blu-Ray playing Playstation 3.

So, when we ask 20 people what’s the best console and we get a combination of the top three; be assured that they’re all right.

Gaming is a very personal thing.

Console Doctor – a lifetimes work

In the same way that Jackie Chan started Kung Fu at the age of 7… the Console Doctor also started on their path to fulfilment at a very early age.

We trained in the art of Tetris and mastered the skills for Space Invaders.  We defeated the enemies of Lara Croft and ran alongside such heroes as Sonic and Donkey Kong.

Now, we train in the skills we know that, one day, we’ll need… skills for – the phone console!

Challenges come quicker now as technology tries to keep up with the demands of the audience.

How many years do we think it’ll be before we have a Hologram Repairs section on our website?

Personally, we can’t wait!

The most expensive Wii in the World!

We at Console Doctor like to bring you the odd strange little fact…  as well as our solid advice relating to console repairs, of course.

Here goes…

This Wii console has been decorated by a renowned Aboriginal artist called Barbara Weir.  Her work sells for anything up to $50,000!

Now, she and three other female artists, have painted 8 Wii consoles and will auction them on ebay in aid of Benefiting Indigenous Education in Australia.

This brainstorm was thought up by Nintendo.  Brilliant!  The Nintendo Wii is now, officially, a piece of artwork.  That gives it a legacy that other games consoles can only dream of.

The PS3 will ultimately end up in the bin once the PS4 is launched… whereas the Nintendo Wii (or 8 of them at least) will be in a glass display cabinet for years to come.

Now that’s great advertising!
